Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed cybersecurity certification designed to help organisations like ours protect themselves against common cyber threats. As technology continues to play a central role in our operations – whether through digital systems, online communication, or customer data management – the risks of hacking, phishing, malware, and ransomware have increased. Cyber Essentials helps us address these challenges by following five key security controls: firewalls, secure system configuration, user access control, malware protection, and regular software updates. These simple but essential measures significantly reduce the likelihood of common cyber attacks, many of which occur when basic security steps are overlooked.

At Vital Electronics, achieving Cyber Essentials is an important part of maintaining strong relationships with our customers, especially those in the public sector. Certification is often required when working with government organisations, and without it, businesses can miss out on major opportunities. Even in situations where it isn’t compulsory, Cyber Essentials allows us to demonstrate our commitment to cybersecurity. This strengthens our reputation, gives us a competitive advantage, and reassures customers and partners that we take data protection seriously.

Cyber Essentials provides valuable benefits for both Vital Electronics and our customers. For the business, it lowers the risk of cyber attacks, protecting us from financial losses, operational disruption, and reputational damage. It also supports stronger internal security habits and may help reduce cyber insurance costs. For our customers, certification means their personal and business information is better safeguarded, reducing the risk of data breaches and fraud. Knowing that Vital Electronics is Cyber Essentials certified builds trust and confidence, ensuring that we provide safe, reliable, and secure digital services at every level.

In 2025, we proudly opened our Dubai office, expanding our office presence beyond the UK and strengthening how we serve customers worldwide. With a growing team, this location offers faster responses across time zones, enhanced sourcing capabilities, and stronger face-to-face connections.

Our Dubai office benefits both our business and our customers, helping us deliver a flexible, reliable, and globally connected service in the fast-moving electronic components market.

Extended Coverage Through Time Zones

Our Dubai office adds to our UK office coverage. Being a few hours ahead, the team there gets a head start – handling enquiries, supplier discussions, and sourcing requests before the UK office opens. As Dubai winds down, the UK team takes over, keeping work moving without interruption. Customers benefit from faster responses and smoother handovers.

Enhanced Global Sourcing Capabilities

With larger teams in the UK and Dubai – in addition to our network of remote worldwide workforce – our global sourcing capabilities are stronger than ever.

Each office connects to different supplier networks and regional markets, improving visibility of availability, pricing, and alternatives. For the business, this increases flexibility and strengthens supplier relationships.

Customers gain quicker access to components, more competitive pricing, and reliable solutions during shortages. A broader global footprint helps us respond faster to market changes and maintain steady supply chains.

A Diversified International Presence

The Dubai office helps diversify our international footprint and strengthen the business. Operating across multiple regions reduces reliance on any one market and improves resilience.

As Kieren Balstone, Director of the Dubai office, says: “Establishing a presence in Dubai gives us greater balance as a business and allows us to support customers across more markets with confidence.”

Travel Ease and Face-to-Face Accessibility

Dubai’s role as a global travel hub makes in-person meetings easier and more practical. Excellent connectivity across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia allows our teams to meet partners with minimal disruption.

This strengthens relationships and collaboration. Customers benefit from improved accessibility, faster issue resolution, and a partner that’s easy to reach.

Vital Electronics is proud to announce a new partnership with Stevenage Football Club, becoming the official sponsor of the North Stand at the Lamex Stadium.

Founded and owned by lifelong Stevenage residents Shawn and Kieren Balstone, Vital Electronics, alongside Balstone Investments, has always placed strong emphasis on supporting the local community. From employing local people to working closely with businesses across the town, the company is deeply rooted in Stevenage and committed to helping it thrive.

Speaking on the partnership, Shawn and Kieren Balstone said:

“As two lads born and raised in Stevenage, it’s a real source of pride for us to be able to sponsor Stevenage Football Club as the official North Stand sponsor. The club is a huge part of the town’s identity, and supporting it feels personal as well as professional.

Through Vital Electronics and Balstone Investments, we’ve always believed that employing local people, working with local businesses, and supporting local organisations should be a staple of how our town operates. When money stays local, it helps Stevenage grow stronger, more resilient, and more ambitious.

This sponsorship is our way of giving something back to the community that shaped us, and of backing a club that represents the hard work, determination, and pride that define Stevenage. We’re delighted to be supporting the club and look forward to being part of its journey.”

The partnership will see the Vital Electronics brand featured prominently on the North Stand, providing strong visibility on matchdays as well as through the club’s wider national and international exposure.

Stevenage FC Head of Commercial, David Hoskins, welcomed the partnership, commenting:

“I’m delighted to welcome on board Shawn, Kieren and all at Vital Electronics at this particularly exciting time for the club. The bold branding looks fantastic on the North Stand and will certainly get maximum exposure, both from fans on matchdays and through the huge national and global exposure we continue to receive.”

The North Stand sponsorship will run until the end of next season, with both Vital Electronics and Stevenage FC looking forward to developing a strong and genuine partnership that reflects shared values of ambition, community, and local pride.

Vital Electronics Passes 1-Year ISO 27001 Audit!

We’re excited to share that Vital Electronics has successfully passed our 1-year ISO 27001 audit! As an electronic components distributor, we know how important it is to keep our data – and our customers’ data – safe and secure. The successful audit confirms that our information security management is up to scratch.

Over the past year, we’ve been putting in the work to maintain and improve our security practices. Passing this audit means we’re not just ticking boxes but actually embedding solid security practices into our everyday operations. It’s all part of our commitment to providing a reliable and trustworthy service to our partners and customers.

A big thank you goes out to our team – led by Kimberley Leighton – whose hard work and attention to detail made this possible. And, of course, thanks to our customers and partners for trusting us – we’ll keep doing everything we can to make sure that trust is well-placed.

We’re looking forward to keeping this momentum going and continuing to improve our processes.

Our auditor commented…

“Successful audit, it was fully evident that commitments are being adhered to, providing the required level of control. The organisation has well defined leadership and effectively demonstrated the levels of compliance with operational controls, which are implemented well & understood well throughout the organisation.”
